With a New Year comes transition and today I wanted to share a way to transition your winter cozy plaids (I know you've got em) into early Spring.
During the holiday months we get so excited to wear our red check plaids - When it comes to plaids I think flannels, riding/over the knee boots, cozy cardis, and yessss posted up by a warm fire (super Hygge).
Sometimes I see certain themes and it gets my thoughts going. How can I create this in a cute/trendy way? Moving into Spring I decided to do a different take on plaid (nothing too crazy) but I wanted to mix two favorite styles of the moment Lumberjack plaid + Sporty Chic. Here I chose my plaid mixed with destructed highwaisted denim (love these from Express)+ baseball cap. The true lumberjack look would definitely pair back with Timberlands buttt any heel bootie/Chelsea boot works just fine. (Laura - Timbs are on the hit list!)
Below are a few ways to bring your lumberjack chic into Spring.
- Pick a Plaid - I know I have about three...jk lets just say a few. This pictured red/navy woven style, a buffalo, and a couple more with wine burgundy check color ways. Try to go with brighter spring forward colors (Red, Pink, light blues, pastels).
- Pair Accessories - I'm always a BIG fan of pairing accessories - matching details ex) Golds and beige cap+belt or the red bag+top. It just completely ties the entire look together. As long as there are two like items it all works.
- Add a Bold Lip - OF COURSE. Does that count as an accessory? Lately I've been lining with a stain (huge Tarte Lip Pant fan) and adding a gloss or lipstick over (loving this Burberry shade) - it stays much longer Lol I wore a nude color to work once and received a few compliments I'm guessing because it was different. A pop of color is just always the go to for me.
- Top it Off - This cap I found at a resale shop (don't judge) it's Saks and the gold woven detail really caught my eye. Living in New York I lived in caps on weekends running errands - a little different now that I run my errands in my car but I love the ease of throwing a baseball cap on. There's tons of cute mesh details, iridescent styles, and textures (faux suede/satin) to change up the original baseball look.
Hope you all are having a great week! Any fun NYE plans? I'm ready to partyyyy and bring on this year...it's gonna be a good one :)
