Beauty Basics - Link Up

YAY I am so excited to give you my first beauty post. I get a lot of questions about my everyday makeup and I wanted to share with you all my morning makeup routine. These are the products/brushes I use every morning and below is a step by step guide on how to get the look.

***Also, make sure you scroll down to the very end to check out some of my blogger lady friends from Instastyle. We thought it would be fun to share all of our favorite blogs with you! Make sure you check out what some of them/all of them have to offer :). We are all pretty new bloggers so it is great having lovely ladies to support each other.

So this is me. I woke up like disss. A little pale, a pimple here and there...and first thing is first -moisturize! I LOVE using eb5 anti-aging cream. Now I know I am only 24...but wrinkle fighting starts NOW ladies! So lather it upppp. It is a bit pricy for drugstore moisturizer, but it works wonders. It feels nice on your face and I use this every morning before applying makeup. I feel like moisturizer gives me a nice clean canvas to work on. And your makeup goes on much smoother.

I am all about the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. I think this is the best I have used yet! Right now I am using the Light4 color. This foundation goes on super smooth and gives you a nice airbrush look. I'll evenly apply it to my face with my Tarte Airbrush Finish brush. ***In the summer I like mixing a little foundation with my moisturizer to create my own tinted moisturizer. It gives a lighter look but still adds coverage.

Next to smooth out my look, I top off my foundation with  Elf Mineral Foundation Powder. I'm seriously obsessed with Elf products. They are all SO affordable and I love being able to try new looks without breaking the bank. I also have pretty sensitive skin and Elf has not given me any breakout issues. This Bare Mineral's brush came in a kit, but I found a similar one HERE. The bristles are light and take just the right amount of powder to my face.

Nars blushes are wonderful! This peachy color is great for olive tones. The flecks of gold add just the right amount of shimmer. After applying my blush I like to highlight my cheekbones with my Elf Contouring palette. It's almost an exact version of this Nars Bronzer Blush Duo. As you can see from the image above I use this a lot.

Y'all always hear me talking about this CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick...It's my favorite and my go to color is in Kiss (wearing below). I'm also loving this Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Pink Truffle. I accidentally ended up with it in my bag when I was in Austin a few weeks ago. My friend wanted me to hold it while we were out and it came back to NYC with me...thanks girrrrl. Both have a great your lip but better color to them. They last awhile and are creamy and smooth.

Next for my eyes I have been using this Bare Minerals palette. I couldn't find the exact one online, but I have a similar one linked HERE. First, I start with the bottom left color and work it around my lid with a fluffy blending brush. Then I'll take the darker shade and apply it to the outer lids and blend inward. I use the top two to highlight my brow bone and inner corners of my eye.

Next onto the brows. I tame them with my Elf Eyebrow Kit (in Medium). I never used to be into brow filling, but I am loving the bold brow (aka Cara Delevingne) and overall the gel/powder gives a more polished finished look. It also keeps the stragglers in line! haha.

Lauren Conrad introduced me to liquid eyeliner. She always has the perfect winged liner (tutorial here). I can occasionally master that, but for everyday I like to use it as a base. I tap on and line the liquid onto my eyes. Then I like to go over it with a flat brush dipped in a regular powder eyeshadow. Here I am using Creep from the Naked Palette. Sometimes I feel like tons of liquid liner is just too intense for daywear ( I like to keep it more natural)...going over it with a lighter or similar eyeshadow softens the look.

(Softening the liquid liner)

Next is mascara. This Covergirl Full Lash Bloom is a nice affordable mascara. I ran out of my Benefit  Mascara and ran to CVS to pick up a quick fix. I'm loving this one so far and I think the hot pink color is just too cute!

And here is the finished look!
